I've been passionate about personal finance since high school, but for years, I avoided the financial planning industry because it felt too much like a "used car salesman" business. Instead, I built a career in education, and the trades - teaching business and personal finance at colleges and universities and working as a construction surveyor. But no matter what I was doing, I always found myself helping friends, co-workers, and family navigate their financial decisions.
Eventually, after seeing too many of my friends receive bad, and sometimes harmful, advice from bank advisors and insurance agents, I knew I had to be part of the solution. That’s why I became an advice-only financial planner. I'm proud to be a part of the gradual shift in the Canadian financial industry towards advice-only, fee-for-service financial planning. No sales, no commissions, just honest guidance to help people make informed financial decisions.
I hold a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) and a bachelor of commerce (BComm) degree and am currently pursuing my Qualified Associate Financial Planner (QAFP) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certifications to deepen my expertise. My goal is to empower you with the knowledge and strategies you need to take control of your financial future, without the pressure of product sales.
Outside of work, I’m a recreational acrobat, teaching, performing, and practicing Acro Yoga and partner Acrobatics. I travel a quite a bit, both for teaching Acrobatics and also just to explore the world! In the summer, you'll catch me playing beach volleyball, slacklining, or away at a music festival dancing the night away. I'm also a bit of a tinkerer. I own a 3d printer and have been learning to 3d design custom designs to print.
I grew up in a small town in the Kootenays in the interior of BC before moving to Calgary Alberta, where I spent over decade enjoying the city and the mountains. I have since moved to Vancouver to take advantage of everything the West Coast has to offer! I serve clients all across Western Canada, but particularly love working with clients from Vancouver and Calgary.
My favorite part about the work I do is getting to know the person behind the financial plan. Understanding someone goals, interests, and future dreams, and then working to build a financial plan to achieve them is an extremely fulfilling process. Everyday I'm happy to be able to do the work that I do.
